Sports Camps

Summerside on the Hill sports camps will take place in our state-of-the-art gym or one of our newly renovated turf fields. There are specialized single sports day camps for the camper who desires to build skills and abilities in a dedicated sport. NEW THIS YEAR: SCH Sports Camp, where campers will work with a conditioning coach in the morning, practicing skills and drills. In the afternoon, campers will break up into specialized sports groups, to focus on their sport of choice. All Summerside on the Hill athletic offerings feature the talent and expertise of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy’s top coaches.

  • Foundations of the Game Football Camp

    The goal of the Foundations of the Game football camp is to instill in children, entering grades 1-8, a passion for the game of football while teaching them the proper fundamental skills to be successful and safe on the field. The camp gives players one-on-one coaching, practice, games, and film review in a real football environment led by SCH varsity head coach Rick Knox with the assistance of current high school and college football players. The camp's upbeat environment and focus on skills is perfect for novice or experienced players, who want to improve their techniques and have fun in the process.

    Director
    The Foundations camp will be run by Rick Knox, a 1992 graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy and now a history teacher, dean of students, and head football coach at his alma mater. Rick played football for four seasons at University of Pennsylvania, where he earned three varsity letters, won two outright Ivy League titles, and was All-Ivy his senior year. Rick started his coaching career at Episcopal Academy, becoming the youngest head coach in the school’s history and leading the Churchmen to their first Inter-Ac title in 23 seasons. Rick’s teams at SCH Academy are a combined 43-14 and in 2009 CHA earned its first Inter-Ac football championship in school history. Twenty-four of his players at SCH have been recruited into the college football ranks. Rick has over two decades of experience working in summer camps.

  • SCH Blue Devils Girls Soccer Camp

    This camp will increase players’ individual skills in a competiive yet fun setting. Girls who attend the soccer camps will focus on position-specific drills, participate in strategy sessions, and play in competitive scrimmages. REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION: Club soccer experience expected.   

    Maria Kosmin has been the Springside Chestnut Hill Academy varstiy girls soccer coach for the past 2 years. Maria became the coach for SCH Girls Soccer in 2016 and led the soccer team to the State Final 2 years in a row. In 2017 the Blue Devils won the PAISAA Championship, which was the first time in program history. The Blue Devils had their best record to date ending the season 17-3-1. Previously, she was on the coaching staff at Arcadia University, helping lead them to 3 consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference Champonships (ECAC) South Region Championships (2013-15). Overall record 66-26-12. Co-coached Flemington Flames who were #1 in the country in the spring of 2014. Currently holds the career points record at Arcadia University (43 goals, 37 assists, 123 points) and was inducted into the Arcadia University Hall of Fame in 2016.

  • SCH Lacrosse Camp

    Matt Rambo and Brian Dougherty, SCH Academy’s varsity lacrosse coaches, are offering the rare opportunity for young athletes to develop their lacrosse skills with these two internationally recognized athletes. This lacrosse camp is for boys of all skills and abilities who want to develop as athletes with top-notch professional coaching. Daily schedule includes two 2-hour sessions with skill building, drills, and scrimmage in a fun, positive environment.

    Directors
    Brian Dougherty attended Episcopal Academy and was a 3-sport All-Inter-Ac performer and 2-time All-American lacrosse player. Additionally, Brian was a 4-year starter at the University of Maryland where he was a 2-time 1st Team All-American goalie, MVP of the 1995 final four, and voted the best lacrosse player in the country in 1996. Brian played professionally in the MLL for 9 years and won 3 MLL championships, 3 MLL goalie of the year awards, and was voted goalie of the decade for 2000-2010. Additionally, Brian won the gold medal for Team USA in 1998 and 2010. Brian has have been coaching for 20 years in high school, Division III, Division II and Division I schools.

    Matt Rambo is one of the most decorated lacrosse players in the history of the sport. Here are a few of his accomplishments:

  • SCH Multi-Sports Camp

    Do you like sports? Would you like to become a better athlete? Do you want to receive coaching from a professional athlete? Then this camp is for you! In this BRAND NEW camp led by SCH varsity coaches, you will be exposed to a different sport every day. In addition, the coaches will offer suggestions as to how you can improve as an athlete and as a teammate. Most importantly, you will have fun! Sign up for 1 week or the entire 7-week program! We will focus on different sports/activities each week.

    Activities will include basketball, flag football, speed and agility drills, soccer, and a variety of group games and competitions.
     
    Directors:  This camp will be led by Antowine Graham and Julian McFadden. Antowine Graham is the girls’ varsity basketball coach at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. He is a former professional quarterback and a certified trainer who specializes in training professional athletes. Julian McFadden is the boys’ varsity basketball coach at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. Prior to coaching at SCH, he was the men's basketball coach at Chestnut Hill College.

  • SCH Tennis Camp – 1/2 day or full day

    Interested in learning or improving your tennis? Sign up for the SCH Tennis Camp! Morning session 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM beginners to intermediate players (includes lunch); afternoon match play and strategy 1:00 – 3:00 PM (intermediate players only).

    Ashley Vandegrift has been the SCH Academy varsity girls tennis coach for the past six years and was previously tennis coach for three years at Princeton Day School. She is a lifelong and experienced tennis player and played competitively for many years in school, tournaments, adult leagues, etc. Ashley is proud to be a Springside graduate.
